My name is Mervin Hugdes, I’m 43 years old, black American. I’m from Oakland California. I’m in San Quentin state prison as a death row inmate. I’ve been incarcerated for 13 years now.

I am seeking correspondence with female pen pals, someone who has a lovely sense of humor, your worldly perspective would be rather gratifying.

You know this place will simply eat at your mind and soul if you don’t have somebody with a good heart to write. Who can understand what you’re going through inside here. I’m not moralizing, just stating a fact.

I don’t mind telling you about this daily struggle to hold on to dear life in here but I just like to talk about more pleasant things, such as yourself.

I’m going to be real with you from start to finish. That way you see if you want to be my pen friend and supporter. But I think you’ll discover that I’m worthy of your trust and friendship.  I would never take from you or expect of you beyond that you give me – your open and real friendship unconditional friendship, some one that will have patience and be strong by my side.

Hopefully you, on the other hand will be some inspiration. I need someone not to be only my eyes in the world but also my voice if necessary. But I don’t have time for anything artificial pen pals or anything else.
