Amnesty International has launched an urgent appeal to save
the life of
Robert Jean Hudson (Texas Death Row).
Thank you everyone.

No more Texas executions
I am writing to urge you to prevent the execution of Robert Jean Hudson, who is scheduled to be put to death on November 20, 2008. Robert Hudson committed a terrible crime, and I have nothing but sympathy for the family and friends of the woman he killed, Edith Kendrick, but putting Robert Hudson to death now will not diminish the pain and suffering they have endured.
Robert Hudson has always admitted responsibility for the crime, but his attorneys at trial made little effort to present mitigating evidence that might have prevented him from receiving a death sentence. Family members of Robert Hudson could have testified to his good character and troubled childhood, including the fact that, from an early age, he has needed medication to treat anger management issues. But these family members were never called.
Robert Hudson’s lethal injection would be the last of 6 such executions in Texas this month, and I am very concerned at this rapid pace, particularly considering the many flaws in Texas’ capital punishment and criminal justice systems that have come to light in recent weeks and months. The large number of DNA exonerations that have emerged in Dallas and elsewhere in the state suggest that Texas should be more cautious and careful about carrying out the ultimate irreversible punishment.
I urge you not only to stop this execution, but to bring all executions in Texas to a halt while significant problems with Texas criminal justice remain unaddressed. Thank you for your consideration of this most serious matter.
Sincerely

Dear Friends, Activist, and prospective
penfriends:
Greeting from Texas death row. First of all, I'd like to thank you for
your time, and for the sacrifies that are made every year in the name of
life, especially a goverment that is suppose to be of the people, for
the people, and by the people. And it is good people like you all around
the world that we on death row may have the hope of a better tomorrow
and one day abolish the death penalty for good world wide, and starts
with unity, and the oneness of all human beings pulling together for a
common cause.
My name is Robert Jean Hudson, I am 43 years of age and I am
African-American. I was born March, 04th-1963. I've been on death row
for 6 years. I love sports, reading and music of all kind, and I love to
listne. I am looking for someone who understands and who can also be a
"good listener". Someone who may be able to help lighten the
pressures of such a heavy hurden in such a dark place, because no one
should have to suffer this.
And believe me when I say that it is no cake
walk being on death row locked in a cage, 22 out of 24 hours everyday.
Its hard just trying to keep your spirit up and your hopes and dreams
alive.
So I am in need of someone who is for real about friendship and life,
and who wants to bring a ray of sunshine into this dreary place. You
know, it's hard just trying to wake up and put a smile on your face and
greet the day with hope. Let alone trying to hold a decent conversation
is almost non-existent with anyone who has lived here in this insane
isolated pressure cooker, for any length of time. And because isolation
tends to kind of make peoples outlook on life a little negative and dark.
And it gets harder everyday to try to pick people up with something good
and positive when other people around you are so grim, and the people on
the other side of the door are trying to kill you. Now that's something
to wake up every morning to with a smile, hey!
So if you are out there and you can help me I'd appreciate it very much.
And I will answer your letters honestly and in good faith return all
correspondence written to me. So thank you again for keeping the
struggle alive, and may we all find unity, peace, and love in the
oneness of God.
Sincerely yours
Robert J.
Hudson

Liebe
Freunde:
erhalten.
Also bin
an diesem Ort aufzuwachen.
an diesem verrückten Ort irgendeine zeitlang lebst.
passt genau hierher.
Also, wenn
aufrecht.
Robert
J. Hudson
